Your Swagger Editor Experience is Evolving.

With the launch of SmartBear API Hub, we’re transitioning from standalone tools to a centralized, enterprise‑ready solution for designing, testing, and documenting APIs.

As part of this shift, some features in our hosted Swagger Editors are changing. For example, the ability to generate code stubs, save to filesystem, and insert OpenAPI snippets via form inputs are being disabled within our hosted Swagger Editor experience.

SmartBear continues to be committed to an open-core approach across our portfolio, and the code at the core of our API Hub will continue to be developed in the open and still be utilized according to advertised licenses. Thus, the changes laid out here only relate to our hosted and commercial offerings, and you can still run your own version of Swagger Editor with all features enabled.

We remain committed to supporting both free and commercial users while offering a natural progressively enhanced experience and will continue to refine our approach to offer the best possible experiences to meet the needs of our customers and communities.

More Than Just an Editor

Our hosted Swagger Editor has always helped developers quickly design, validate, and render OpenAPI (as well as AsyncAPI) documents. Combining this with the launch of API Hub Essentials, we're offering a more complete API design and governance experience — including features like form-based editing, contract testing, guided authoring (e.g., standardization), and built-in cataloging — all for just $9/month.

Here’s a breakdown of the exciting capabilities that are available within the API Hub Essentials offering.

  • Form Editor
A modern visual form-based editor for OpenAPI documents ‑ perfect for those new to OpenAPI and for those who prefer a low-code experience which reduces the requirement to be proficient in either OpenAPI or YAML.
  • Standardization (linting)
Catch design issues early with built-in rules that enforce naming conventions, response consistency, pagination, and more.
  • Save APIs to Catalog
Start your own API catalog and reduce the need to copy/paste API descriptions across tools.
  • Contract Testing
Ensuring API changes do not break consumers expectations is hard work. Contract testing gives you the ability to validate that your API design changes behave as expected and validate against the expectations of your consumers. We’ve pact the ability to have 10 provider/consumer contracts into our API Hub Essentials offering.
  • Exploration
Evaluate the functionality and capabilities of your APIs as your design leveraging our built‑in API client experience taking ‘Try‑It out’ to the next level.
